When the library in the village of Millbrook announced that it would close on Sundays to save money, many residents were upset. Instead of protesting, a group of retired teachers offered to run the library on Sunday afternoons as volunteers. They organised reading hours for children, helped older people use the computers and even started a small book exchange. Within a year, Sunday had become the busiest day of the week, and the council decided to pay for the volunteers' training and keep the library open.

The text says that the library was going to close on Sundays, but retired teachers volunteered, organised activities, and Sunday became the busiest day, so the council kept the library open. This is the main idea: «Volunteers saved the library's Sunday opening and made it more useful to the community.» The statement «The council closed the library on Sundays because it had too few visitors» is wrong: the closure was planned to save money and did not happen. The statement «Retired teachers prefer working with children rather than with older people» is not supported: they helped both groups. The statement «Book exchanges are the best way for a village library to save money» is a minor detail turned into a false general claim.
